DRC Update

Cooperation Agreement signed

The DRC Project Partners, BASF, Gasunie, OGE and Shell, have signed a Cooperation Agreement, which details their intention to jointly enable, de-risk and coordinate the development of a cross-border pipeline system in a cost effective, scalable and flexible manner:

  • The Delta Rhine Corridor (DRC) project will focus on developing and realising the CO2 and H2 value chains.
  • The DRC infrastructure will provide open access & apply a non-discriminatory process.
  • OGE intends to develop the DRC H2 and CO2 networks in Germany.
  • Gasunie intends to develop the DRC H2 and CO2 networks in the Netherlands.
  • BASF & Shell intend to become customers of H2 and CO2 networks; they offer comprehensive value chain expertise for the overall project in the Netherlands and Germany.

Gasunie will initiate an Expression of Interest (EOI) procedure for potential CO2 customers at the beginning of March. The EOI is intended to attract interest from the market and give potential CO2 customers the opportunity to become part of this initiative and indicate their interest to use the transport system in the Netherlands in future.

The EOI is relevant to all potential customers, in the Netherlands and beyond. Emitters who wish to transport CO2 across the Dutch border to Rotterdam will also need to have capacity booked in the Dutch system.

The DRC partners are looking forward to continuing their close cooperation with stakeholders from government bodies and interested companies to carry out this essential infrastructure project.
